DAY ONE - Animation for Kids

Hey everyone!

Thanks for visiting the blog!
Here you can find all of the videos we watched in class and even more cool stuff, be sure to check back everyday.

I hope you all had fun today in class and learned a lot.
Do you remember the different kinds of animations that we talked about?
I bet you do!

2-D (Two dimensional) Animation :

CUTOUT ANIMATION:
Changing PAPER objects/shapes/characters and photographing them
one frame at a time to make the objects look like they're moving.
*** This is what we'll be doing in class this week! ***

For Becky! from Karen Abad ♥s Dinosaurs. on Vimeo.

3-d (Three dimensional) Animation :

STOP MOTION ANIMATION:
Changing REAL LIFE objects and photographing them
one frame at a time to make the objects look like they're moving.

Stop-motion string animation from Sorano on Vimeo.

CLAY ANIMATION:
Changing CLAY objects and photographing them
one frame at a time to make the objects look like they're moving and morphing.

COMPUTER ANIMATION / CGI :
A computer version of stop motion. Instead of moving objects one frame at a time with your hands, the computer moves the object for you.

PIXILATION:
Changing PEOPLE as objects and photographing them
one frame at a time to make the objects look like they're moving and morphing.

Using this effect allows people to disappear and reappear out of thin air, float across the ground and fly!
*** We will do a special pixilation exercise on Wednesday ***

pixilation from Sora Sora on Vimeo.

The animation program that we are using in class is called Frame Thief, and you can download the program for FREE on your computer at home if you use a MAC computer.

Looking forward to seeing all of you directors of photography, shape shifters and frame thiefs tomorrow for another day filled with fun.
Just remember, with animation, we can MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE!
